Trusting the timing of your dreams

I know I can’t be the only one who feels like time is moving at double speed. One minute, it’s January 1st, and the next, my son’s interhouse sports event is happening next week—when I swear it was supposed to be mid-February.
And as time speeds up, so does the reality that I’m getting closer to putting my book out into the world.
If you follow me on Instagram, YouTube, or my podcast, you probably already know about it. But I haven’t talked about it much here. So, here it is:
I wrote a personal guide to branding yourself because that’s exactly what I needed when I first started building my own brand. I was figuring things out through trial and error, wondering what worked, and feeling like I had no clear roadmap.
I honestly feel equal parts excited and terrified to put it out there.
But here’s what I know for sure: If you’ve ever dreamed of writing a book, this is your sign to just do it.
Writing the book that needed to exist
I’m self-publishing, which means no big publishing house is footing the bill, no external deadlines are looming over me, and everything—everything—is up to me. It’s freeing and overwhelming all at once. But I’m determined to enjoy the process of learning.
At first, I put so much pressure on myself. You know, the kind of pressure that no one else is putting on you, but you feel it anyway? My original goal was to have this book out by 30. When that didn’t happen, I thought I had failed.
But guess what? Life kept moving.
And now that I’m actually publishing this book at 32, I realize something important: It is happening exactly when it’s supposed to.
Not late. Not too soon. Right on time.
And that gives me immense peace.
If you’re sitting on a dream, here’s what I’ve learned
Your timeline is not a deadline. We often create arbitrary deadlines for our big goals, and when we don’t meet them, we feel like we’ve failed. But the truth is, things happen when they’re meant to. Keep going.
You don’t need permission. If you want to write a book, start. If you want to build a brand, show up. No one is going to tap you on the shoulder and say, “Now is the perfect time.” You decide.
Perfection is a trap. If I had waited until I felt 100% ready, I’d still be waiting. Your work won’t be perfect, but it will be yours—and that’s what matters.
You can figure it out as you go. I had no idea how to self-publish when I started, but I’m learning every step of the way. The same applies to any dream. You don’t need all the answers now—just start moving.
Trust the process. What’s meant for you will come together in ways you can’t even predict. Keep taking the next right step.
The Next Right Step
So here I am, days away from another milestone that once felt impossibly far away. Pre-order begins 1st march! And I hope, if you’re sitting on something you’ve been dreaming about - whether it’s writing, starting a business, launching a podcast, or something else entirely - you remember that it’s not too late.
Your dreams are still valid. Your timing is still right. And the pressure? You can let that go.
It will happen exactly as it’s meant to.
So, what’s one dream you’ve been holding onto, waiting for the “perfect” time? Let me know in the comments, I’d love to cheer you on.
