The Great Lock-In

A practical guide to finishing the year with intention

10/7/20252 min read

There’s a point every year when the noise gets louder.
Everyone’s rushing to finish strong. Deadlines. Launches. Holiday plans. Resolutions for next year already floating around like confetti.

But what if instead of rushing, you decided to lock in?

What is the Great lock-in?

The Great Lock-In is simple: it’s a commitment.
A decision to shut out the noise, cut the excuses, and focus deeply for a set period—usually the last 90 days of the year.

It’s saying: “I may not have done everything I planned, but I can still finish this year intentionally.”

Think of it as locking yourself in—with whatever you need in your current season.

Why it Matters

Truth is, 90 days of focus can do more for you than 9 months of half-hearted effort.

What you commit to now sets the tone for your next year.

And if you’ve been drifting, feeling like the year ran ahead of you before you could catch your breath, this is your moment to reset and realign. But remember that the Lock-in is personal. You must do what is good for you, not what the people on the internet are saying.

How to do your own great lock-In

Let’s make it practical. Here’s how to start:

1. Decide the ONE thing.

Don’t try to fix your whole life in three months.
Pick one area - your personal brand, your health, your business, your finances - and ask yourself:
“What’s the one thing I want to look back on in December and say I made progress on?”

The power is in focus.

2. Create a daily non-negotiable.

Lock-ins aren’t about long to-do lists. They’re about consistency.

Choose one daily action that moves the needle:

  • Write one post a day if you’re building your brand.

  • Do one pitch a day if you’re growing your business.

  • Walk 5,000 steps a day if you’re working on your health.

Small daily action + focus = big end-of-year wins.

3. Cut the noise.

This is where the real work begins.
Maybe it means logging off social media for a few hours a day, saying no to draining commitments, or finally creating clear work hours.

The less distracted you are, the stronger your results will be.

It’s not too late

I know it’s tempting to say, “Next year. I’ll start fresh next year.”
But trust me, it’s not too late.

The Great Lock-In is about momentum.
It’s about deciding that these last 90 days will count for something.

Because how you end one year shapes how you start the next.

When I first started this journey of building my personal brand, I had to learn to lock in before I ever saw results.
The speaking engagements, the podcast, the clients, the book—it all came from seasons where I chose to be intentional rather than busy.

So if you’ve been scattered, uninspired, or unsure, this is your call to focus again.
